At home Friday night
the Petrolia Squires
hosted the
Tillsonburg Thunder
and came from behind
an won in OT with a
final score of 5 -
4.
Tillsonburg opened
the scoring in the
first period and the
Squires answered
back with a power
play goal and with
23 seconds left in
the period added
their second to take
a 2 - 1 lead heading
into the second
period.
In the second
Tillsonburg scored 3
unanswered goals
that included 2
power play goals
that gave them a 4 -
2 lead heading into
the third.
Late in the third at
14:16 the Squires
narrowed the gap
then with 3:38 left
in the period scored
to tie and the game
went into overtime.
With 13 seconds
remaining in the OT
period the Squires
scored to take the
win.
Norm Leger scored 2
goals in the win
that included the
game winner, Chris
Edwards added 2 and
a single by Breydan
Belan. Scoring
for Tillsonburg were
Shane Balcom, Sean
McLeod, Nathan
Peacock and Ryan
Fletcher.
Brandon Campbell
earned the win in
net for the Squires
making 39 saves.
Jeff Bassindale
suffered the loss
with 27 saves.
The final league
game for the Squires
is at home on Friday
Jan 30 vs Clinton.
The winner of
Friday's game will
secure 3rd place.
Clinton is currently
in 3rd place
(15-6-0-2) have a
one point lead over
the Squires
(15-7-0-1).
Squires Bus Trip
The Petrolia Squires
have organized a bus
trip to Detroit for
the
Redwings/Islanders
game on January 31st
at 2:00 pm.
Bus leaves at 10:30
from the Petrolia
Arena with a 11:00
am stop in Sarnia.
Cost is $120.00 that
includes game
ticket, bus and
beverages. If
