Lambton AAA Major Midgets Went 2 - 0 on Weekend

The Lambton Jr.
Sting Major Midget AAA team
remains in the top 3 in the
Alliance Hockey League after
taking 2 wins on the weekend.
Last Friday the
team traveled to London and
defeated the leagues second
place team, London Jr. Knights
with a final score of 4 - 2.
Lambton scored
the first goal at 1:04 in the
first period on a goal by Sean
Ginnell from Dawson Vautour and
Brock Perry. London tied
the game when Ryan Hopkins
scored a short handed goal at
8:52.

In the second
Dillon Saunders from Alec
DeKoning scored the only goal at
3:23 to give Lambton the lead
heading into the third.
First goal in the third period
wasn't scored until 15:22 after
Alec Dekoning scored on a power
play with Sean Ginnell and
Christian Lyle picking up the
assist and just over a minute
later at 16:33 Dekoning picked
up his 3rd point of the game
scoring his second goal
unassisted. Less than a
minute later London's Danny
Nickles scored and the Jr. Sting
denied the Jr. Knights and
finished with the win.
Lambton outshot
London 30 - 18. Shayne
Battler made 16 saves and picked
up his 10th win of the season in
net for Lambton.
Zack Weir made 26 saves in net
for London.

Back at home on Sunday the Jr.
Sting hosted the Waterloo Wolves
(9-18-0-1) and it was a scoring
frenzy for Lambton taking the
win with a final score of 9 - 2.
Lambton scored 3
in the first, 4 unanswered goals
in the second and 2 more on the
power play in the third.
Waterloo scored 1 in the first
and third.

Four Lambton players each earned
3 points in the game.
Brock Perry scored 3, Tim
Kaldeway scored 2 and assisted
on one. Mathew Stevens
scored 1 and assisted on 2 and
Sean Ginnell picked up 3
assists. Other goal
scorers included Jake Mott,
Marco Mini and Alec Dekoning.

Lambton outshot
Waterloo 36 - 27. Travis
Moore made 25 saves earning his
9th win of the season.
Liam Devine made 27 saves for
London.
Lambton is currently ranked #3
in the Alliance League with a
record of 19-5-1-0 for a total
of 39 points. London is in
second spot with 46 points
(23-5-0-0.) Lambton is
three back of London and five
games back of the first place
team Windsor Jr. Spitfires who
has a total of 52 points
25-3-1-1.

Lambton has a challenging three
game weekend on the road
beginning on Friday January 9th
when the team travels to Windsor
to take on the top team.
Puck drop is at 8:30 pm.
On Saturday the team is back in
London at 7:30 pm for
their second meeting in a week
then on Sunday the team is in
Stratford for an afternoon game
at 3:30 pm to face off against
the Huron Perth Jr. Cullitons.
