Lambton AAA Minor Midget Leads Playoff Series

Lambton Jr. Sting
and Brantford 99ers were 1 - 1
heading into the third game of
the Alliance League playoff
round on Saturday.
Despite having a short bench
with just 12 skaters the Minor
Midgets came out on top taking a
3 - 1 win over the 99ers
Action went back
and forth for the first two
periods before Lambton scored
the first goal at 1:29 in the
third period by Conner Royer
assisted by Cameron Rannie and
Jacob Williams. Lambton
widened their lead at 8:21 with
Matt Hunt scoring assisted by
Rannie and Royer. Royer
earned his third point of the
game scoring his second goal at
9:49 with Hunt assisting.
Brantford denied
Jr. Sting netminder Kyle
Brinacombe a shutout after
Hunter Dubecki got a shot off
from the slot with just under 5
minutes to play.
Only one penalty
was called in the game with
Brantford taking a five minute
major giving Lambton the only
power play of the game that they
were unable to capitalize on.
Lambton leads the
best of five series 2 - 1 and
the two teams are back in action
today in Brantford for game
four. A win will send the
team to the semi-final round, a
loss the two teams will be back
in Sarnia for game five on
Monday Feb 23.
