Mooretown Flags Suffer loss Friday

The Mooretown Flags remained in third place in the standings race despite taking a 5 - 2 loss in Belle River against the Lakeshore Canadiens.

 

Cameron Rannie opened the scoring just :20 seconds into the game to give the Flags the early lead with Nolan Riley and Cade Robbins earning the assists.   Kyle Smith scored at 8:15 from Landon Wilson and Alec Segers to go up 2 - 0 but that would be the end of the scoring for Mooretown as Lakeshore scored went on and scored 5 unanswered goals. 

 

The Canadiens scored a single in the first period by Brenden Crundwell in the second Mejoe Gasparovic, Crundwell his second of the night and Hunter Corp each scored and in the final stanza JJ Percy scored one.

 

Record shows that Lakeshore outshot Mooretown 55 - 31 giving Brandon Johnson 50 saves in the loss, Colin Tetreault earned the win made 29 saves.

There were only two penalties handed out in this game, both to Mooretown. Lakeshores was stopped on the two power play opportunities.

 

As mentioned Mooretown remains in third spot in a tight race with a record of 15-9-2-0 giving them 32 points.  Blenheim and Lakeshore are on their heels each with 31 points.

 

The Flags look to widen that lead when they host Blenheim in an important match up tonight (Dec 12) in Mooretown.  Game time 7:30 pm.
