December 12, 2015
COMMUNITY NEWS
Rogers Hometown
Hockey Tour presented by
Scotiabank and Dodge will be
arriving in Sarnia for a weekend
hockey celebration on December
19th & 20th. The ultimate hockey
festival highlights the best in
each city, celebrating our
hockey heritage and will feature
a jam packed weekend of free
outdoor activities, interactive
experiences and appearances by
Sarnia native and Hall of Famer
Dino Ciccarelli, as well as
other hometown heroes and
special guests, all alongside
icon Ron MacLean.
The two-day hockey celebration
will take place in the heart of
Downtown Sarnia on;
• Saturday, Dec. 19 from Noon –
6:00pm
• Sunday, Dec 20 from Noon –
10:00pm
Downtown Merchants are Open for
Business!! We encourage everyone
to take a stroll through our
downtown and support our local
merchants. It is with the
support of the Downtown
businesses, residents and
merchants that ultimately lead
to the success of these events.
The committee worked with Rogers
to limit the amount of on-street
parking spots that would be
unavailable to the public. The
road detours will be clearly
defined with a very slight
impact on overall traffic flow.
All downtown Pay & Display
Municipal Parking lots will be
available and include Lot #6
Vendome (across from Post Office
Davis/Front), Lot #9
(Victoria/Cromwell) and the
Charlotte Street lot. All
Municipal Parking Lots are Free
to the Public on Weekends.
Sidewalks and access to all
business store fronts will
remain free and clear at all
times during the festival.
The road disruption will be
located on Front Street (south
of City Hall Parking Lot) to
North of Lochiel Street (Lochiel
remains open) as well as George
Street between Christina and
Front. Road Disruptions will
begin on December 17th at 700am.
It is important to note that the
Road Detours on Front Street
will be marked with “Local
Traffic Only” or “No Through
Traffic” which results in
traffic not being able to go
through to the next intersection
but traffic can enter and use
the on street parking that is
available. “All Businesses are
Open” signs will be posted.
On behalf of the Rogers Hometown
Hockey Local Organizing
Committee we thank both the
Downtown merchants and the
Sarnia community in advance for
your cooperation and support of
this excellent opportunity to
showcase our downtown.
