The 20th
Anniversary Season
celebrations for the
Sarnia Sting Hockey
Club will kick off
on Friday, October 3rd
with a tailgate
party outside the
RBC Centre in
Sarnia. Beginning at
3:00 PM, the
tailgate party will
feature live music,
games/contests for
all age groups, and
a Molson beer tent.
The puck drops at
7:05 PM on Opening
Night when the Sting
take on the visiting
Barrie Colts. The
Sting will be
wearing a replica of
the team’s original
Black jerseys worn
in the 1994-95
inaugural season on
opening night.
Following the game,
the jerseys will be
auctioned off and
proceeds will go
towards the newly
established Sarnia
Sting Foundation.
Throughout the year,
the Foundation will
be used to support
local
charitable causes.
A number of players
from the original
team will be in
attendance on
opening night and
welcomed to the ice
during the pre-game
ceremonies. A
complete list of
attendees will be
released at a later
date. Sarnia Sting
President, Bill
Abercrombie speaks
to the Hockey Club’s
anticipation of this
night. “It’s a night
that we’re certainly
looking forward to.
As an organization,
honouring our
original team and
celebrating 20 years
of Sting Hockey is
something that we’re
excited about
sharing with our
fans. Between the
afternoon tailgate
party and our team’s
2014-15 season
debut, this is a
night that our fans
should be excited
about.”
