On Wednesday the Northern Jr. Vikings played their season opener against St. Pat's Fighting Irish in LKSSAA football league action.

The Vikings opened the scoring early after long runs by Vikings' quarterback Josh Clubb and Gabe Barnes.  Clubb put 6 points on the board for the Vikings in the first quarter with a quarterback keeper from three yards out.  The extra point by Gabe Barnes sailed through the uprights.  While the remaining minutes of the first half held lots of back and forth action and several stellar defensive plays, the scored stayed at 7-0. 

The points were few and far between in the second half.  The Irish did score a major, but the extra point attempt was no good.  The Vikings' Barnes added a field goal that left the final score 10-6 for the Vikings.
