In a penalty filled game the
Major Midgets won their
second game on the weekend
in Brantford after defeating
the 99er's 6 - 2.
Lambton took a 3 - 0 lead
after the first period, both
sides scored one in the
second and Lambton added two
to Brantford's single in the
third.
Out of the six goals scored
by Lambton, two were
shorthanded goals with Sean
Ginnell and Ryan Greenaway
scoring and three were on
power plays by Alec
Dekoning, Jarret Marks and
Jake Motts. Dillon
Saunders added the final
goal full strength.
"It's great when you are
getting scoring from all
four lines, very hard to
defend against." Head Coach
Jonathan Taylor said
Both of Brantford goals were scored on the power play with Nick Visser and
Jacob Balca scoring.
Lambton suffered a total of
sixty-one minutes on
twenty-one infractions in
penalties, Brantford tallied
forty-one minutes on fifteen
infractions.
"Very scrambled game due to
over officiating both ways."
Taylor said "We will discuss
this at the Alliance this
coming weekend as our
purpose at the Midget level
is to develop players for
higher levels of hockey. I'm
sure that if yesterday's
game was a Junior A or B
game there would have been
four penalties the entire
game. Somehow we have to
bridge the huge gap in
officiating between Midget
AAA and the Junior level."
Earning
the win in net for Lambton
was Shayne Battler turning
away 28 of 30 shots.
Andrew Hawkins took the loss
made 31 saves on 37 shots.
"Once again our goal tending
was strong making some key
saves when the score was
4-2." Taylor said
Lambton is currently in the
top spot with a record of 3
- 0 in the Alliance League
and will travel to Brantford
next weekend to participate
in the Annual Alliance Face
Off Showcase beginning on
Friday Oct 3 and ends on
Sunday October 5. The
team will go up against
Kitchener on Friday,
Cambridge and Brantford on
Saturday and Waterloo on
Sunday.
