
The Sarnia Legionnaires were
in Chatham on Sunday in
Greater Ontario Jr. B Hockey
league action and came home
with win #7 under their
belts after defeating the
Maroons 7 - 5.
After the first period both
sides were even 3 - 3.
Sarnia took a one point lead
after the second adding two
goals to Chatham's single to
end the period with a 5 - 4
lead. At 13:53 Chatham
fought and tied the game but
four minutes later the
Legionnaires regained the
lead and finished it off
with an empty net goal in
the last minute of play.
Sarnia scored two power play
goals on five opportunities.
Chatham went zero on four
chances.
Scoring for Sarnia were
Davis Boyer and Cameron
Clark with 2 each,
Riley Babkirk, Jay Clarke
scored singles and Cody
Trowell scored the empty net
goal.
For Chatham, Braden Hopkins,
Trevor Richardson, Brennan
Feasey, Steven Beenackers
and Ian Faubert each score
one apiece.
Chatham edged out Sarnia
with 42 - 41 shots on goal.
Hunter Johnson earned the
win in net for the
Legionnaires making 37
saves. Bo Bessette
took the loss made 34 saves.
The Legionnaires are now 7 -
0 for the season and will be
put to the test once again
on Wednesday October 1st
when they travel to LaSalle
to take on the undefeated
Vipers (6-0). Then on
Thursday the team will host
Strathroy, with a puck drop
at 7:10.
