Atom Division
The Sylvan Learrning Centre
Firebolts earned their first
victory of the year
defeating the Royal Canadian
Legion Branch 62 Iron Hides
24-18. Owen Allen scored
the first touchdown for the
Bolts. Quarterback Owen
Piggott crossed the goal
line 3 times for the
victors. Nathan Tremblay
led the Iron Hides, scoring
all three of the majors for
his team. Tremblay also
wowed the crowd with a
description of his first
touchdown run in an
interview over the sound
system during the half time
break.
In a battle for second
place, the Steeves and
Rozema Shock Wave outscored
the Bill Dennis Jr. Realty
Twin Bridges Inferno 24-18.
Liam Swanson put the Shock
Wave on the board first with
a 1 yard plunge. From then
on the teams traded
touchdowns with Tyler Kerby
scoring 3 for the Shock Wave
and Alex Cannon replying
with a trio of majors for
the Inferno.
Peewee
Division
The Rob Simrak Magic Realty
Sky Fire moved into second
place with a 21-12 victory
over the Robinson Design and
Drafting Vortex. The Sky
Fire came out of the gate
blazing, scoring all of
their points in the first
half. Jackson Grasse led
the charge with a pair of
touchdowns, the first on a
50 yard run and the second
on a 15 yard pass from
quarterback Josh Foulis.
Sacha Watson also
contributed with a major.
The Sky Fire converted two
of these touchdowns, the
first on a pass from Grasse
to Foulis and the second on
a kick by John Cannon.
Styles Greenbird scored a
first half touchdown by the
Vortex on a 50 yard run and
Travis Kerrigan ran 8 yards
across the goal line in the
second half. The Vortex
were surging at the end but
the Sky Fire hung on for the
win.
The Lanxess Avengers
continued to roll with a
24-0 win over the Vidal
Pharmacy Buzz Saw. Dray
Pepper scored a pair of
touchdowns in the first
half. These majors were
successfully converted by
quarterback Josh Vacek. The
Avengers completed their
scoring in the second half
on a 25 yard pass from Vacek
to Dylan Pepper.
Bantam Division
In a battle for first place
the Mammoet Crane
Incorporated Mammoths earned
a hard fought victory over
the Mechanical Contractor's
Association Toros. The
Mammoths drove the ball down
the field on a long drive in
their first possession that
culminated on a 20 yard run
by Joel Card. Justin Cain
kicked the convert. The
Toros replied with a long
drive of their own that was
completed successfully on a
2 yard run by quarterback
Brett Riley. The ensuing
kick off was returned 80
yards to the end zone by
Card. The Toros mounted a
major drive as time was
winding down in the half but
were stopped four times
inside the Mammoth 5 yard
line. The score at the half
was 14-6 for the Mammoths.
There were no points scored
in the second half as the
defences took over in this
intense, hard hitting
affair.
The Sarnia Police
Association Tiger Sharks
prevailed over the Optimist
Club of Sarnia Lakeshore
Grizzlies in an exciting
game, 36-30. The Grizzlies
led for most of the game,
before the Sharks surged
ahead late in the third
quarter and hung on for the
victory. Dylan Gallant was
a one man gang for the
winners, accounting for all
36 points on 5 touchdown
runs and three kicked
converts. The Grizzlies had
a more balanced attack as
brothers Jackson and Avery
Smiley combined for the four
Grizzly touchdowns and
Garrett Patterson kicked 3
converts.
