The Legionnaires suffered their second loss of
the season and are now 13-2 after losing to the
Chatham Maroons 8 - 2 in Chatham on Sunday
night.
After taking a firery 3 - 2 loss Saturday in
Strathroy the team found themselves heading to
Chatham with a short bench. Ryan Trottier
and Jordan Fogarty were sidelined with injuries
and P.J. Vandervaart and captain Nathan Mater
are serving suspensions.
The Maroons outplayed and outshot the
Legionnaires 65 - 28. Netminders Hunter
Johnson and Cornel Felder shared the duties in
net for the Legionnaires. Johnson played forty
minutes made 42 saves on 49 shots, Felder made
15 saves on 16 shots. Bo Bessette made 26
saves for Chatham.
Both Sarnia goals were scored on the power
play by Kyler Keating and Riley Roberts in the
first and second period.
Chatham scored two goals in the first, five in
the second and added one in the third.
Brennan Feasey led the Maroons scoring three
goals, Steven Beenackers scored two and a single
by former Lambton AAA player Brett Storr. Jared
Dennis and Michael Verboom also added one
apiece.
The Legionnaires return to Greater Ontario
Jr. B Hockey League action on Tuesday when they
host Leamington at the Sarnia Arena beginning at
7:10 pm.
