Jr. Vikings Edged Out Jr. Irish in LKSSAA Football Action
friday october 17, 2014

In 8 man Junior football action action on Thursday the Northern Vikings defeated St. Pat's Jr Irish with a final score of 12-10.

After some early back and forth, the Jr. Irish struck first with a 30 yard pass into the endzone for a major.  The extra point was good.  The sky opened up and the rain poured down for most of the 2nd quarter, causing havoc on the field.  Northern scored in the dying seconds of the half when Aden Alkinani rushed the ball in from 5 yards out.  The extra point was blocked.  With the clock winding down towards halftime, the Irish kicked a field goal from 35 yards out.

The score was Irish 10, Vikings 6 at the half.

A scoreless 2nd half was broken at the 5:00 min mark of the 4th.  The Vikings' Andrew Bradshaw ran the ball in from 50 yards out for a touchdown.  The extra point attempt was no good.  With the seconds winding down in the 4th, St. Pat's had a final shot at winning the game.  Their field goal attempt was spoiled when the kicker slipped in the muddy conditions.
