The Bantam
Championship game pitted the
Mechanical Contractor's
Association Toros against the
Mammoet Crane Incorporated
Mammoths.
Previous games between these 2
well coached teams were hard
hitting, competitive affairs and
this game was no different. By
game time the precipitation had
pretty much subsided but the
cold 40 km/hr north wind,
temperatures barely above
freezing and a wet turf made
conditions less than ideal.

The Mammoths hit
the board first, mid way through
the first quarter on a 5 yard
run by quarterback Hunter
Hendrie. From then on a
defensive battle raged. The
going proved tough for both
offenses. The Toros won the
battle of time possession. The
Mammoth defense endured a
methodical assault from their
opponent's offense, bending but
not breaking, always coming up
with key fourth down stops.

With only 5
minutes remaining the Toros
began their final push. On
fourth and 3 from the Mammoth
35, a pass, buffeted by the
wind, to a wide open receiver
fell incomplete and the Mammoths
took over on downs.

Four plays later
Hendrie sprinted 40 yards to the
end zone to seal the victory as
the Mammoths prevailed 12-0.
Joel Card, Hendrie and Mitchell
Hillsdon were standouts on both
sides of the ball for the
victors. Brett Riley, Cam
Havers and Jordan Perreira had
many outstanding plays for the
Toros.
