Northern Vikings Wins First LKSSAA Senior Football Title
monday november 17, 2014
The Northern Viking Senior
Football team remained
undefeated on Saturday in the
LKSSAA final after taking the
title by a score of 24 - 21 over
St. Pat's.
"Undefeated, however when you
play someone three times you
know you’re in trouble you got
to be ready," head coach Craig
Davies said after the game. "We
weren’t surprised it was going
to be a tight game."
In the
regular season Northern downed
St. Pat's 49-10 and 23-0.
Northern
blocked St Pat's first field
goal attempt then took it to it
the other end on the next series
of plays and never looked back.
"We all
stay together and played for one
and not for ourselves,"
Quarterback Kobe Lundy said.
"They were a lot more intense,
they filled the gaps, they were
out here to win today. We came
out a little bit nervous but
after the first touch down I
think we stayed straight after
that.
Lundy threw
one touchdown pass in the game
to wide receiver Zach
Doxilly.
St. Pats
battled back and in the dying
minutes added a touch down and a
2 point conversion to narrow the
gap to 3.
"Hats
off to them they had a great
game plan obvious right to the
very end they played solid.
Hats off to our guys they played
awesome." Davies said
The Vikings
now advance to SWOSSAA and will
meet a familiar opponent, the
Herman Green Griffins from
Windsor. Hermman is ranked
third in the country.
"Northern
is not ranked. But that’s ok we
like that," Davies said "We got
it handed to us last year I
think we are a little bit of a
different team we’ll be able to
give it a good go this year."
The stage
is set for 5:00 pm on Friday
November 21 at Norm Perry Park.
