Sarnia FC U12 Premier Team Open Season with Win
thursday may 22, 2014

The Sarnia FC - U12 Premier team travelled to London on Tuesday night to open their summer season. The team endured some extensive Spring training on Sarnia's new turf and were very anxious to get things underway.  Under overcast skies, the boys would kick-off against arch rivals PCL FURY. The game began with Sarnia dominating play and maintaining most possession in the Portuguese end. Sarnia exemplified some strong passing skills creating numerous opportunities however they could not find the back of the PCL net.  The Sarnia FC defense was a strong force to be reckoned with shutting down most PCL advances while controlling the mid-field. The half would close out  0 - 0.

The start of the second half began much the same as the first, with Sarnia attacking at will. Their perseverance would finally pay off as Striker Mateo Troiani, would be taken down in the Portuguese box drawing a penalty kick. With nerves of steel, Troiani would calmly convert the PK placing Sarnia FC on the scoreboard. Shortly after, Sarnia would increase their lead as Striker, Michael Howe would dribble around the PCL defense and blast a shot into the lower left corner of the PCL goal. Minutes later, Sarnia FC would be rewarded a free kick from 25 yards out. Center mid-fielder, Blake Wallace would be called upon to take the kick. After smashing the Portuguese wall twice, the ball would deflect to a charging stopper, Dean Palimaka who would blast in Sarnia's third goal of the game. PCL would net a goal later in the half to come within two however, the back defense would deny anymore.  A strong defensive performance was evident on the pitch from: Christian D'Agostini, Cameron Hoek, Dean Palimaka, Dominic Krasinkiewicz and sweeper Alex Newall.

The midfield was controlled by Sarnia FC players:  Nathan Hawkes, Tristen Konrad, Blake Wallace, Kyle Flamminio and James Brown. A very dominant offensive performance by strikers: Mateo Troiani, Michael Howe and Ryan Janssens!  Finally a very impressive game by Sarnia's keeper Andrew Harron who stood tall in goal denying most opportunities.

The team now travels to Canton, MIchigan over the Memorial Day weekend to participate in the Canton Cup. This is one Michigan's largest soccer tournaments.
