The St. Patrick’s High School Jr Boys Rugby team recently travelled to Wingham and won the seventh annual Matthew Dinning Memorial Cup.

St. Pat’s defeated the host team, F.E. Madill in a close game with John Fazio and Kobe Cox each scoring tries for the 10-7 win, and A Division Championship.

Laurie and Lincoln Dinning presented the championship plaque to St. Pat’s Captains, Dorian Ferrera and John Fazio.  The tournament was established in honour of their son, Corporal Matthew Dinning, who was killed in Afghanistan during April of 2006.  He attended F.E. Madill Secondary School and as a student helped create its rugby program.
