With one of the youngest rosters in the St. Thomas Fastball League, the Indians will look to build on the experience gained last year with an exciting playoff championship. Consistent defense and offence will be key for them this year.
Kyle Crawford returns as the Ace of the pitching staff, after an impressive 2013 season. Also toeing the rubber will be Ty Sebastian, Jeff Lyons, and Travis Pavey. Veteran Doug Charlton will see some innings, as well as being A mentor to Young the pitching staff. Veteran Joe Triest and Aaron Stocking lock up the middle of the infield, with Jeff Lyons and Ryan Chapman spelling each other off at first base. 2013 playoff hero Brad Cooper will see lots of time at third base. Steve Lyons and Tyler Huff will see time in both the infield and outfield. Catching duties will be handled by Jamie Shields and utility man Craig Lyons. The outfield will consist of Andy Triest, Eric Hyatt, Craig Lyons, and Devon Triest. Alvinston would also like to welcome youngsters Cole Pavey and Carter Dolbear to the the team.
Offensively the Indians will be counting on Stocking, Sebastien, and Jeff Lyons to lead the way. They were near the top in almost all offensive categories last season. Ryan Chapman, Joe Triest, and Jamie Shields will also be counted on for timely hits.
The Indians will be coached by Paul "Chico" McCart, Kevin Morgan, Doug Charlton, and Brad Young.
The Indians pride themselves on having a young, versatile squad, and many of these players will play multiple positions this year. With a good mix of veteran leadership and young talent, the Indians are hoping to repeat their 2013 championship.
Good luck to all of the other teams in 2014 .
