Where Are They Now? Sarnia Connection in Toledo

Former Sarnia Legionnaire Matt Abercrombie and Sarnia Sting Defenseman Jimmy McDowell have signed with the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL.

 

24 year old Matt Abercrombie, native of Sarnia, Ontario, just completed his 4th season with Brock University where he earned 27 points (15G, 12A) in 24 games.

In the four seasons at Brock, Abercrombie appeared in 107 games with 105 points (57G, 48A). Prior to his college career, the 6’1”, 183 pound forward played two seasons with the Sarnia Legionnaires in the GOJHL. In 2008-09 he finished with a team best 84 points(29G, 55A) with the Legionnaires.  The next year Abercrombie skated with Thorold and led them in scoring with 90 points (37G, 53A).

To date Abercrombie has played in nine games for the Walleyes and has 1 goal and 2 assists.

 

 

 
 

After the Sarnia Sting 2013-14 season ended Defenseman Jimmy McDowell agreed to terms with the Toledo Walleye.

 

McDowell, a native of Lansing, Michigan spent the last five years in the OHL appearing in a total of 304 games earning a total of 104 points (35G, 72A).  In that time he played for Sarnia, Sudbury, Erie and Oshawa.  In the final 2013-14 McDowell was traded to Sarnia from Sudbury and earned total of 68 games earned a total of 38 points (13G, 25A).

 

To date McDowell has played in one game for the Walleyes.

 

The Walleyes are currently in last place in the North Division standings with a record of 18-38-3-1.
