The Corunna Giants U18's were in Essex on Sunday against the Essex Minors for their second doubleheader over the weekend in Sun Parlour Baseball league action.
In the first game the Giants both teams were tied at 4 apiece after six innings until a ground out single by Lauchie MacDonald in the top of the 7th brought home Nolan Nicolson for the win.
Nicolson went 3 for 3 at bat with 3 singles and 2 RBI's in the game. Mitchell McKeegan hit twice with 1 RBI, Keenan Smith had 1 double and Brett Farr, Jeremy Devereaux, Kyle Smith each batted singles.
On the mound Kyle Smith went 5 innings allowing 3 hits, 6 walks and 4 runs. He also struck out 5. In for 2 innings was Jordan Pavey allowing 2 hits and striking out 1.
The Giants finished off the day with a 5 - 1 win in game 2 of the doubleheader.
Corunna scored 2 runs in the second, 1 in both 4th & 5th and added 1 more in the 7th. Essex lone run came in the 6th.
At Bat Jordan Pavey had 2 hits and 2 RBI's. Devin Butler earned 1 RBI. Jamie Devereaux had a single and double. Nolan Nicholson had 2 hits, Keenan Smith and Joe Stock each had 1.
Joe Stock earned the win pitching 6 innings allowing 4 hits, 7 walks, 1 run and struck out 4. Jamie Devereaux closed in the final inning allowing 1 hit.
The Giants are back in action on Wednesday June 25 when they make the short trek to Wallaceburg for a 6:30 pm start.
