The Corunna Giants 18U baseball team hosted Wallaceburg Monday night at home at Duggan Field and won with a final score of 6 - 3.
Wallaceburg took a 1 - 0 lead after the first inning. Jamie Devereaux hit a single to get on base. Derek Williams moved Devereaux over to 3rd on a double. Zack Sutherland double scored both Deveraux and Williams and Sutherland scored to end the bottom of the first with a 3 - 1 lead.
In the bottom half of the second Nolan Nicholson singled and later scored on an error. The top of the 4th Wallaceburg came within 1 scoring 2 runs after scoring 2 runs. Corunna widened their lead in the 5th inning. Devereaux got on first on a single and Derek Williams hit a line drive double. Devereaux scored on sacrifice fly and Williams later scored to go up 6 - 4.
Jeremy Devereaux got the win for the Giants allowing 2 runs, seven hits and one walk over seven innings.
The Giants are back in action on Friday night when they travel down the road to Sarnia. Game time set for 6:30 at Blackwell Park.
