Corunna Midget Giants swept a doubleheader in Sun Parlour league action Sunday night in Belle River. Corunna won the first game in just 5 innings winning by a 15 – 0 score. Joe Stock was the winning pitcher as he allowed only 3 hits, struck out 7 and walked 1. Offensively for the Giants they were led by Derek Williams who had two hits and 6 RBI’s including a grand slam home run in the first inning as the Giants jumped out to a 10 – 0 lead after 1 inning. Colton Osborne also had two hits for the winners.
In the 2nd game Derek Williams started on the hill for Giants as they cruised to a 6 inning 11 – 1 victory. Williams pitched 5 innings allowing 3 hits, struck out 3 and walked 3. Brett Farr pitched the 6th inning striking out 1 and walking 1. Offensively the Giants struck early getting 6 runs in the first inning and again it was Williams who led the Giants, he had two hits and 4 RBI’s. Joe Stock, Alex Machan and Jordan Pavey all had two hits as well. Corunna pounded out 13 hits in the game. Highlight hit of the game was a 3 run blast by Mitch McKeegan for his first ever career home run in the 3rd inning to give Corunna a 9 -1 lead.
Giants are in action again on Wednesday evening when the travel to Tecumseh in an exhibition game vs the AAA Thunder.
