Monday January 6, 2014

STING COMPLETE DEAL WITH GREYHOUNDS

SARNIA, ON – On Tuesday afternoon, Director of Hockey Operations, Bill Abercrombie announced that the Sarnia Sting have completed a deal with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in which they have acquired defenseman Kevin Spinozzi.

In exchange for Spinozzi (’96), the Sting have dealt away forward Bryan Moore (‘94) and defenseman Tyler Hore(‘95).

At 6-foot-2, 201 lbs. the young defenseman will bring size and reliability on the Sting back end. Through 41 games this season Spinozzi is a +15, which speaks volumes to the 17-year-old’s game.

Bill Abercrombie explains his thoughts on the transaction,

“Kevin is a player we have coveted for quite some time.  He is a high character player who will play valuable minutes for us immediately and for the next two seasons after this.  We have a very strong group of young players which Kevin certainly adds to. We wish both Bryan and Tyler all the best and we are very excited to welcome Kevin into our organization.”

Kevin Spinozzi was selected by the Greyhounds in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection (2nd Rnd, 34th) out of the Kingston Jr. Frontenacs program and is eligible for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
