Josh Kestner and Ryan Vendramin of the Sarnia Legionnaires were among players honoured at the annual Western Jr. 'B' awards banquet in London Monday.
Kestner was named to the first all-star team and was a runner up for the Most Valuable Player Award, which was won by Kyle Brothers of the Chatham Maroons.
Kestner ended the regular season with 40 goals and 30 assists for 70 points.
Sarnia head coach Dan Rose said, “It was well deserved. The rest of the general managers and coaches recognized what a dynamic player he is with his speed and his skill.”
Vendramin, meanwhile, was named conference offensive player of the month for February. During that time period Vendramin scored 10 goals and assisted on 17 others. Rose said that output “absolutely” helped the Legionnaires secure fourth place as the month came to a close. “Ryan was eighth in the conference in scoring (for the entire year)” he pointed out. “He had a great month.”
For the campaign as a whole, Vendramin, a rookie, had 28 goals and 34 assists for 62 points.
