Sarnia Girls Silver Stick Tournament Results

The Sarnia Girls 16th Annual Silver Stick sponsored by LanXess concluded on the weekend with games being held in seven ice pads around the city utilizing RBC, Clearwater, Sarnia, Germain and Point Edward Arenas.  A total of 72 teams competed in Midget and Peewee Divisions.

Two local teams won their division and taking home the Silver Stick.

The Petrolia Midget B Ladies defeated Milverton 4 - 1 in the final game.  This was the second win agaisnt Milverton as they took a 1 - 0 win on Saturday in regular pool play.  In other games Petrolia shut out St. Clair Storm 4 - 0, defeated North Halton 4 - 1 and tied Lambeth 1 - 1.  Their only loss was against Grey Highlands that ended with a final score of 5 - 2.

In the Peewee A Division the Sarnia Lady Sting were undefeated in the tournament.  Sarnia defeated Bluewater 3 - 0, Mississauga 3 - 0, Kitchener 3 - 1, Windsor 5 - 1 and in the Championship game Sarnia shut out Oakville 1 - 0.

In the Midget AA division Saugeen Maitland defeated Honeybaked 4 - 3 in overtime.  Two Oakville Hornets teams went head to head in the Midget A division and Oakville 1283 took the win over their counterparts (team 1252) with a final score of 4 - 1.  West Huron and Lansing battled for the Midget BB division as the game was decided after five overtime periods with West Huron taking the win with a final score of 4 - 3.

In the Peewee AA Burlington edged out Whitby 1 - 0 and Lucan defeated Clearview 3 - 2 in the Peewee B division.

Silver Stick Notes:

  • Sarnia Midget AA were defeated in the semi-final round by Honeybaked.

  • The furthest travelled team the Vancouver Midget A lost in the semi-final against Oakville 1252 after a close game that ended with a final score of 1 - 0.

  • Colorado Midget  BB team were unable to attend due to Flight cancellations due to weather.  However four players who took an earlier flight showed up to play only to find the rest of the team missing.

  • Filling in for Colorado was the Sarnia Lady Sting Bantams.
