Sarnia Lady Sting Midget A Two Game Weekend Highlights

The Sarnia Lady Sting Midget A team travelled to Stratford this past Saturday to take on the Aces.

Sarnia was missing a couple of forwards, and the game plan was to score early and often. The Lady sting didn’t disappoint as Teighan MacNeill opened the scoring with a high shot beating the Aces goalie glove side. Sydney MacDonald scored two goals, Assisted by Vanessa Wardell and Aleah Boersma before the end of the first period to give the Lady Sting a 3-0 lead.

Sydney MacDonald would complete the Hat trick in the 2nd period with a nice wrist shot from the slot beating the Aces goalie top shelf. The Lady Sting would play a solid 3rd period, and wouldn’t give the Aces any chance of mounting a comeback and took the win with a final score of 4 - 0.

Ashley Norland made some key saves in the 2nd period and recorded the shutout for the Lady Sting.
 

The Sarnia Lady Sting Midget A team hosted the Kitchener Rangers on Sunday afternoon at the RBC center.

The Lady Sting had recently skated to a 1-1 tie with the Rangers and was looking to improve with a win. Both teams had chances in the 1st period, but were unable to score.

In the 2nd period the Lady Sting would open the scoring on a determined effort by Marissa Johnson who corralled a loose puck in the crease and lifted it over the Rangers Goalie. The Lady Sting would take a 2-0 lead on a goal by Tabetha Duquette, assisted by Abigail Whitely. The Ranger would respond back with two quick goals to tie the game heading into the 3rd period.

The Lady Sting would take the lead back on a hard one timer by Tabetha Duquette, assisted by Marissa Johnson and Abigail Whitely with just 2:56 remaining in the game. The Rangers would respond once again, with a quick goal just 14 seconds later to tie the game 3-3.

The Lady Sting will be playing their next action at the Guelph Tournament January 2-4.
