Lambton Jr. Sting Minor Atoms Started Strong in Three Game Weekend

Wednesday December 17, 2014

The Lambton Minor Atom Jr. Sting AAA team had a full weekend with 3 games played over the weekend.

On Friday night the Jr. Sting traveled to London and defeated the Jr. Knights 5 - 3.

“Great win for the boys on the road."  Head Coach Corey Pageau said.  "We competed hard for a full 3 periods.”

Aaron Shanks scored 3 goals in the win with singles by Garrett Pearce, Cameron McCarthy and Jaxon Priddle.

Helpers on the goals were Isaac Oliphant with 2 assists, Adam Maitland, Lucas Gaspari, Cameron McCarthy, Jaxon Priddle and Ryan Vidler each added one.

Carter LaRocque earned the win in net.

Hardest worker of the game awards went to Adam Maitland, Garrett Pearce and Carter La Rocque.

Another road game on Saturday sent the Jr. Sting to Windsor where they were edged out by the Jr. Spitfires and took a 2 - 1 loss.

“Disappointing result after a great road win the night before," Pageau said  "Effort wasn’t there for the entire game and it resulted in a loss to a team that is below us in the standings.”

Jaxon Priddle scored the lone goal for the Jr. Sting assisted by Nolan Mumford.

Bo Doxtator, Ryan Vidler and Isaac Oliphant were named the Hardest Workers in the game.

In their final and third game of the weekend the Jr. Sting hosted Elgin Middlesex Chiefs with the game played in Thedford. The Chiefs defeated the Jr. Sting with a solid 9 - 2 score.

“The team played like it was their 3rd game of the weekend," said Pageau  "We started the 1st period strong, but just went south in the 2nd and 3rd periods.

Tanner Winegard and Adam Maitland scored Lambton with Ryan Pageau and Ryan Vidler assisting.

Hardest Worker award went to Adam Osler and Ryan Pageau.

"Elgin is a hard working team and we just didn't match their intensity level. Weekend had started well with a big win, but ended on a sour note.”
