The Lambton Jr. Sting
Minor Peewee AAA team is
playing some much
improved hockey in
recent weeks. In the
last 12 games, they are
7 4 1 and are
looking to put some
pressure on their
divisional opponent for
the final playoff spot.
Over the weekend, the
Jr. Sting hosted the
Windsor Jr. Spitfires
and traveled down the
402 to take on the
Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs
in Komoka. Lambton
would come out strong
versus Windsor and take
a 1 0 lead on a Ryder
Nienhuis goal from
Nicholas Medeiros and
Wesley Brooks but would
head in to the second
period tied at one. The
Jr. Stings power play
units would take over in
the second and third,
scoring 3 goals. Bradyn
Santavy (unassisted)
would put Lambton up 2
1 early in the second
and Nicholas Medeiros
from Ryder Nienhuis
would also get a power
play maker of his own
before the end of the
frame. Aidan James
would score a goal of
his own late in the
third frame from Matthew
Moore while defenseman,
Jake MacLean, would put
the final nail in the
coffin, scoring an
unassisted, empty net
goal. The goaltending
tandem of Odin Hessel
and Blake Foster were
great between the pipes.
The second game of the
weekend saw Lambton
taking on the
Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs.
The Chiefs would come
out strong and took a 2
0 lead before Andrew
Lemieux would get
Lambton on the board
late in the first on a
beautiful tip in from
defensemen Wesley Brooks
and Jake MacLean on the
power play. Andrew
Lemieux would score his
second power play goal
of the game in the
second to tie it all up
at twos and Carson Peer
would also cut in to the
Chiefs lead scoring on a
beautiful shorthanded
breakaway.
Unfortunately, that
would be as close as
Lambton would come and
would lose this closely
contested game 4 3.
Goaltender Blake Foster
was stellar in net
turning aside 40 of the
43 shots he faced.
