Petrolia Squires take Second Win on Weekend

The Petrolia
Squires went 2 - 0 over the
weekend with their first win at
home Friday night against Huron
East Centenaires 6 - 3 (highlights)
and on
Saturday they travelled to
Milverton and won 7 - 5 against
the 4-Wheel Drives.
On paper it
didn't look pretty as all 5
Milverton goals were power play
goals and three of the Squires
goals were scored on the power
play.
Milverton had a 3 - 2 lead in
the first period but the Squires
bounced back and outscored
Milverton 3 - 1 in the second to
head into the third period
leading with a score of 5 - 4.
In the third the Squires managed
to hold onto the lead scoring 2
and Milverton scored 1.
Both sides had
their share of penalties.
Petrolia took 24 minutes on 13
infractions including a game
misconduct and Milverton took 28
minutes on 14 infractions also
with a game misconduct.
Norm Leger led
the Squires scoring a hat trick.
Jeff Paully added 2 and singles
by Zac Macnaught and Chris
Edwards.
Mike Terrian and
Dennis Dewar each scored 2 goals
for Milverton and Kent Merriam
added a single.
Petrolia record
is 8-3-0-1 for 17 points for
second place in the standings
race just 1 point behind
Tavistock. Following close on
their heals is Tillsonburg with
16 points and 2 games back with
a record of 8-2-0-0 and Clinton
also with 16 points with a
record of 7-3-0-2.
Coming up the Squires will host
Tillsonburg on Friday Dec 5 at
8:00 pm, they need the win to
remain in second.
