Sarnia Flag Football Recent Highlights

Monday September 30 , 2013

The Sarnia Flag Football Association (SFFA) played 4 regular season games at Lansdowne Park in Sarnia on Sunday September 29.  In game one at 11:00, the Bluewater Power Titans hoped to rebound from their loss last weekend at the hands of the Power Champs in a match up against the Phoenix.  The Phoenix who are still looking for their first win of the season…will have to keep looking as the Titans rolled over the Phoenix with a final score of 47-19.  Scoring for the Titans in the win were John Ravenheart, Bryan Weaver, Jim Grasse, Joe Parr and Chris Hart.  In the losing cause, tallies were registered by Andrew Veale and Dominic Sheppard.

The second game at 11 featured the undefeated ANWIS Heat taking on the Lambton Metal Service Rampage.  The Rampage welcomed back veteran QB Ken Stanilewski though this welcome was short as the Heat burned the Rampage with a final score of 58 to 15.  Scoring for the Heat in the win were Matt Goulais, Ethan Handy, Keyshaun Jordan and Jawan Burns while for the Rampage, TDs were scored by Zach V and Logan Kohut.

In game 3 at 1:00, both the Heat and the Titans met for their second game of the day in what was going to be an incredibly competitive match-up.  The Heat, still undefeated hoped to keep this drive alive and finally beat the Titans while the Titans had history on their side never suffering defeat in regular season at the hands of the Heat.  Fortunately for the Titans, history was on their side as they scored early and kept a comfortable 2 touchdown lead through the game handing the Heat their first defeat of the 2013 season with a final score of 43 to 33.  Scoring for the Titans were John Ravenheart, Justin Wood, Chris Hart, and Joel Clarke.  For the Heat, majors were registered by Adam MacDonald, Josh Yearchuk and Heat’s break-out rookie Keyshawn Jordan.  Jordan, who is currently the youngest player in the SFFA and son of Heat captain Barry McGann, stepped up to QB the Heat as veteran QB Jimmy Pervous pulled up with a leg injury.

Game 4 was to feature the expansion team, the Jack Doyle’s Hitmen against the Power Champs however, the Hitmen were yet again, unable to field a full squad and forfeited their game to the Power Champs.

Next week, October 06 will see 3 regular season games played starting with the Bluewater Power Titans vs. Jack Doyle’s Hitmen and the Lambton Metal Service Rampage vs. the Power Champs at 11:00.  The lone game at 1:00 will see the ANWIS Heat vs. the Phoenix.  All games in the SFFA are played at Lansdowne Park in Sarnia.

Teams are reminded that before the start of games next week, full team registration packages must be submitted.  Also, the league will be holding a short meeting on the field between games.
