The Wallaceburg Lakers continue to struggle as they took their fourth straight loss after losing to Alvinston 6 - 4 at home in Great Lakes Junior C Hockey league action.
Wallaceburg took the lead at 1:34 in the first period with Ryan Chovich scoring but Alvinston's Tyler Kettler answered back at 12:03 to tie.
Kettler led the Flyers in the second as Alvinston scored four unanswered goals. Kettler scored the first goal of the period and the last goal of the period on a penalty shot. Dan Warner and Joe Archer added singles. Alvinston led 5 - 1 heading into the third.
Third period action saw Wallaceburg rebound scoring three goals in the period with Scott Lubbers scoring the first goal just :42 seconds into the period. Alvinston final goal came at 8:34 by Sam Vokes. Wallaceburg's Rober Danyo fired in two quick goals at 14:19 and 14:45 to narrow the gap but time ran out giving Alvinston their first win of the season. Alvinston is now 1 - 1, Wallaceburg is 0 - 4.
Alvinston outshot Wallaceburg 38 - 30. Jamie Morreau earned the with with 26 saves, Joel Sowinski took the loss with 24.
Both teams went scoreless on power play opportunities. Alvinston had just two chances, Wallaceburg had four.
Next up Wallaceburg is back at home on Wednesday September 25 hosting Belle River. Alvinston travels to Dresden on Friday Sept 20. Both games begin at 7:30 pm.
