Sarnia, On – Sarnia Sting Director of Hockey Operations Bill Abercrombie announced that the hockey club has acquired goaltender Taylor Dupuis from the Sudbury Wolves.
In exchange for Dupuis the Wolves have acquired Mississauga’s 6th round pick in 2015 from the Sting. The Sting had acquired the pick in an earlier trade.
Dupuis, a 19-year old from New Liskeard, ON is entering his second season in the Ontario Hockey League.
Abercrombie explained the thought process in bringing Dupuis in.
“We feel that with both Taylor and Brodie Barrick we have solidified the goaltending position. Taylor is a big goalie who could be a legitimate number one goalie in our league and so can Brodie. Both goalies are going to play a lot and carry the load for us in net this year.”
With the acquisition of Dupuis the Sting have also announced that overage goalie Knick Dawe has been released from the hockey club.
“He is a first class young man who came in here last season and played very well when we ran into injury trouble. He was very respected in our room and by all of our staff. We wish Knick all the best this season,” Abercrombie commented.
Dupuis is expected to be in Sarnia on Wednesday for his first practice with the Sting as the team continues to prepare for the Home and Season Opener on Friday night against the Oshawa Generals.
