The Sarnia Jr. Lady Sting Novice team recently captured the gold medal at Mitchell Meteors Women's Hockey Tournament going undefeated with a record of 4 wins and 0 losses.

In pool play, they defeated Ilderton 7-1, Waterloo 3-1, and South Huron 7-0.

The final game was an exciting, back and forth game against Waterloo. Robyn Storey got Sarnia started with the first goal of the game late in the first period on a pass from Felicia Park. Sarnia keep the pressure on Waterloo throughout the second period with several quality scoring opportunities but the fine goaltending of Waterloo keep the game close.

Early in the third Waterloo got on the board with their first goal to tie the game.  The Waterloo goal served as a wakeup call as the Lady Sting found another gear, going back into the lead just over one minute later as Neely Jewell scored from the slot on a nice passing play from Robyn Storey. Ella Jackson added two insurance goals soon after on strong shots to seal the victory for Sarnia.

The Lady Sting played fantastic, team hockey all weekend.  For the majority of girls on the team it was the first tournament win of their young hockey careers.

Team members include Haley Denney, Mara Draper, Ella Ferrera, Rhylyn Hicks, Ella Jackson, Tessa Jackson, Neely Jewell, Kiara MacDonald, Felicia Park, Sienna Renton, Maya Smith, Robyn Storey, Vanessa Toenders and Kate Walls. The team is coached by Mark MacDonald, Derek Jackson, Dave Walls, Scott Park, Jamie Draper and Emily King with Jenn Park serving as team manager and trainer. Dressing room moms include Jenn Ferrera and Kim Hicks.
