SMAA Bantam Football Wednesday Results

Thursday October 3, 2013

The Bantams played their usual doubleheader ay Norm Perry Park on Wednesday night.  In the opener the Mechanical Contractor's Association Toros defeated the Sarnia Police Association Tiger Sharks 27-0.

The teams battled through a scoreless first quarter.  In the second quarter Brett Riley caught a 29 yard pass from Jackson Fisher to open the scoring.  On the last play of the half Aiden Hodgson ran a reverse 39 yards to increase the lead of the Toros.  Hodgson converted both touchdowns as the Toros took a 16-0 lead at the half.

The only scoring in the second half was a 1 yard quarterback sneak by Fisher and a successful convert by Hodgson.

The second game pitted the winless Sylvan Learning Centre Bears against the Mammoet Crane Mammoths, who began this evening in a first place tie with the Toros.

The Bears opened the scoring less than 4 minutes into the game on a 2 yard run by Clay Mackie.  Mackie's convert gave the Bears a 7-0 lead, their first lead of the year.  The Mammoths turned the ball over on their first play from scrimmage following the kickoff.  The Bears were quick to pounce on this turnover, as the talented Josh Clubb scampered 81 yards to end zone.  Mackie's convert opened the Bear's lead to 14-0.  Before the half was over Clubb had added 2 more touchdowns on runs of 34 and 5 yards as well as a convert.

The Bears had a commanding 27-0 lead at the half.  The Craig Davies coached Mammoths did not give up and began to ramp up their offense in the second half.  Cole Morrison scored a pair of touchdowns on runs of 15 and 74 yards.  Travis Conrad powered in from 1 yard out and tossed a 10 yard pass to Mack Fiddy on the last play of the game.  Garrett Patterson added 3 converts.  Clubb added 2 more touchdowns for the Bears on runs of 54 and 70 yards as the Bears upset the Mammoths 39-30.
