Major Novice Tier 1 Results at Best of Best Hockey Tournament

The Sarnia Jr Sting Major Novice Tier 1 team travelled to Halton Hills for the Best of Best Hockey Tournament over the weekend. 

The Sting advanced to the Semi Finals before falling to the eventual Champions, Amherstburg Stars 4 – 2.

During Round Robin Play the Sting went 2 wins and a loss before advancing to the Quarter Finals.  Game 1 saw the Sting fall 6 – 3 to Woolwich.  Goal Scorers were Aaron Shanks with two and Tanner Winegard.  Assists went to  Garrett Pearce and Ryan Pageau with two each.  Trent Loxton and Issac Oliphant with one assist each.  Game MVP went to Garrett Pearce.

Game two had the Sting winning 6 – 0 over the Halton Thunder.  Ryan Pageau led the way with two goals.  Singles went to  Wil Vandenboom, Adam Osler, Aaron Shanks and Issac Oliphant.  Assists went to Garrett Pearce x3, Cameron McCarthy x2, Oliphant, Trent Loxton, Tanner Winegard, Quinn James x2 and Logan O'Leary-Dilosa.  Caiden Smit earned the Shutout between the piped.  Game MVP went to Ryan Pageau

The Sting defeated Brampton 3 – 1 in game three.  Goal Scorers included; Adam Osler, Wil Vandenboom and Tanner Winegard.  Assists went to  Issac Oliphant, Winegard, Landon Buckingham and Osler.  Winning Goalie, Carter LaRocque received the Game MVP.

Quarter Final action saw the Sting overcome a 2 goal deficit to defeat Fort Erie 5 – 4.   Aaron Shanks, Ryan Pageau, Tanner Winegard, Garrett Pearce and Issac Oliphant all scored for Sarnia.  Assists went to Pearce x2, Pageau, Shanks, Maitland, Logan O'Leary-Dilosa, Ryan Vidler and Wil Vandenboom.  Caiden Smit was strong in net for the Sting.  Game MVP went to Landon Buckingham.

The Sting could not capitalize on opportunities in their 4 – 2 loss to Amherstburg in the Semi Finals.  Goal Scorers were Adam Osler and Adam Maitland.  Ryan Vidler and Wil Vandenboom picked up assists.  Game MVP went to Adam Maitland.

The Sting resume action versus the Oakridge Aeros in Oakridge next Sunday.
