The Northern Jr Vikings football team earned a spot in the 8 man final after taking a 37 - 21 win over the LCCVI Lancers on Tuesday.
The Vikings started things off on their first possession, from deep in their own end. Keyshaun Jordan connected with Greg Bressette for a 70 yard touchdown pass and run. Aaran Pollock added the extra point. The Vikings defense pounced on a Lancer fumble in the next series. On the following play, Jordan kept the ball, after a great fake to his running back, and tore into the endzone from 40 yards out. Pollock converted the extra point.
At 9:43 of the 2nd quarter, Zach Doxilly put six more points on the board for the Vikings on a 75 yard breakout run in to the endzone. Pollock booted the single. After a great run by Joey Salari that took the ball deep in to Lancer territory, Andrew Bradshaw finished off the drive with a touchdown from ten yards out. Pollock add the extra point. The halftime score was Vikings 28, Lancers 0.
The Vikings got on the board again at the start of the second half, on a Zach Doxilly run into the endzone from 5 yards out. The extra point attempt was no good. The Lancers put up their first points of the game at 1:27 of the first third quarter on a 5 yard run into the endzone and an extra point. The Lancers added their 2nd major at the 9:00 minute mark of the final quarter. They made good with the extra point. A few minutes later, the Lancers put another major on the board and added the extra point, making the score Vikings 34, Lancers 21. In the game's final minute, the Vikings added a field goal from Pollock.
The Jr 8 Man football final is set for Saturday November 2 with a 3:00 pm kick off. Northern will face the winner between St. Clair and St. Pat's.
