Alvinston Indians Win Home Opener

Friday may 10, 2013

The Alvinston Indians scored early and often Thursday evening in their home opener, against the Glencoe Astros in St. Thomas & District Major Fastball League play.

Two big blows in the game were the difference for Alvinston in their 6-1 win. Jamie Shields hit a solo home run to start the game, while Aaron Stocking's three run bomb, opened the game wide open, in the second inning. Alix Chisholm was 2 for 3 in the game, with a double, single, and a run scored. Jeff Lyons walked three times in the contest, while Criag Lyons tripled as well. Eric Hyatt also made his return to the Alvinston Indians, after a 1 year hiatus due to work commitments, and the team is delighted to have him back.

Kyle Crawford was dominant on the mound, holding Glencoe to only one hit in the game. Crawford collected the win, allowing one earned run, with 12 strikeouts, while walking three.

The Indians are now 2-1 on the season, and will sit idle until next Thursday, when they host the Glanworth Gators on home turf, beginning at 8pm.
