Sarnia Spirit U15 Bring Home Bowling Green Championship Title

SATURDAY APRIL 27, 2013

The Sarnia Spirit U15 L3 started their season off with their first tournament win in Bowling Green.

In the first game against DCR, a team from Kentucky the Spirit dominated the game but didn't finish their plays and the game ended in a 0 - 0 tie.

The second game was against Toledo Metro where the girls finally found the back of the net and came away with a 3 - 0  shutout win.  Chloe Kennedy scored 2 and Cassie Forte scored 1 for the Spirit.

The third game the Spirit went up against Greater Toledo where the score ended up the same as the second game and took the 3 – 0 win.  Scoring for Sarnia were Kelly Hodgins, Claire VandenEnde, and Daphne Hibma.

She shoots, she scores seemed to be the way that the final game went for the Spirit Girls as they took a 10 - 1 win over their regular league rivals Eastside Kickers from Windsor.

Despite poor weather and field conditions the Spirit dominated winning the 1v1's and moving the ball well and finishing their scoring to take the championship title with a final score of 10 - 1.  Kristy Hodgins and Chloe Kennedy led the Spirit with both scoring 3 goal hat tricks.  Emma Colman, Lauren Shaw, Kelly Hodgins and Katie Barwitzki contributed to the goals with singles.

Outstanding goaltending performance by Cassidy Edlington earning  3 shut outs and allowing just 1 goal in the tournament.

The U15 regular league begins on May 29
