Bluewater Sharks Tykes Capture Consolation

The Bluewater Shark (2005’s) Minor Novice were unsuccessful defending their title but did capture the Consolation Championship at the Port Huron Spring Challenge Hockey Tournament over the weekend.  The Sharks were tied for second after the round robin competition however did not advance to the Championship game due to the tie breaking rules.  The Sharks then went on to win the Consolation with a 7 – 1 victory over the Lakeland Hawks.

Brayden DeGelas and Rorey Elson led the attack with 2 goals each.  Lucas Gaspari, Aaron Highfield and Jaxon Priddle added singles.  Assists went to; Adam Maitland, Ryan Cossa, with two each and Logan O’leary-Dilosa, Highfield, Adam Osler, Garrett Pearce, Landon Buckingham, Priddle, DeGelas, and Ryan Pageau with one each.  Caiden Smit had the wins between the pipes.   Hardest workers of the game went to Aaron Highfield and Rorey Elson.

During Round Robin play the Sharks went 1 win, 1 tie and 1 loss.  Game 1 saw the Sharks blow a 5 – 4 lead with 5 minutes to go and lose 8 – 5 to the Southwest Jets.   Scoring for the Sharks were DeGelas with 4 and Buckingham with a single

The Sharks tied their second round robin game versus the Bluewater Stars.  Scoring for the Sharks were DeGelas with two and Priddle and Pageau with one each.  Assists went to Elson, Priddle, Gaspari and Pearce.  Smit played well in goal. Hardest worker went to Smit and Lucas Gaspari.

Game three had the Sharks bouncing back with a 9 – 1 victory over the Lakeland Hawks.  DeGelas continued his solid tournament with 3 goals.  Adam Osler had two goals, while singles went to Ryan Vidler, Elson, Buckingham and Pearce.  Assists went to DeGelas, Mumford, Pearce, Buckingham, and Elson.  Carter La Rocque earned the victory in net.  Player of the game award went to Carter La Rocque and Adam Maitland.

The Sharks travel to Detroit, Mi in two weeks to compete in the Hockey Fights Cancer Tournament.
