Lambton Minor Bantams AAA Stave Off Elimination
 monday march 23, 2013

The Minor bantams were facing an uphill battle, trailing the 8 pt Playoff Championship six points to none against a very tough Hamilton Huskies squad. Lambton were at home Saturday to try and keep the dream alive and escaped by the skin of their teeth, pulling off a come back tie.

The Jr Sting were trailing the game 4-1 in the third period when they exploded for three goals to tie it 4-4 as OT solved nothing.
Nick Discanno opened the scoring in the first with assists to Conner Royer and Cade Robbins. Hamilton reeled off 4 straight goals to take what looked like a commanding lead but Max Steeves made it 4-2 from Josh Barraclough and then Steeves with his second making it 4-3 from Royer and Barraclough. Jared Pageau scored with 4 minutes remaining to even things at 4 with an assist from Matt Hunt. The score remained deadlocked through the final minutes and OT making the series 7 pts to 1 for Hamilton.
Kyle Brinacombe played a very strong game in net for Lambton.

The Jr. Sting then travelled to Hamilton Sunday for a win or it's all over game.
Max Steeves opened the scoring for Lambton in the first period on a nice follow up while Nico Discanno and Conner Royer assisted. Hamilton would score to tie it at one but Lambton would regain the lead when Steeves notched his second of the game from Royer and Caleb Adrian.
Jared Pageau then scored what proved to be the game winner with Matt Hunt and Eric Cardinal assisting and a 3-1 lead going into the third stanza.
Hamilton narrowed the gap to 3-2 with seven minutes to play but could not get the equalizer and Lambton skated off with a 3-2 victory and making the series 7-3 pts.
Ethan Hunt was solid between the pipes.

The Sting are at home Saturday March 30 for another win or go home game at the RBC at 12 noon.
