Point Edward Pacers Came Close but not Enough Against the Spartans

The Pacers hosted the Spartans from St. Catharines in Ontario Jr B Lacrosse league action on Saturday night and dropped a 12 - 10 decision.

 

After the first period both sides were even 3 - 3 with Dan Charlton scoring all three goals for the Pacers.  In the second it was back and forth with the Spartans scoring first just :34 seconds into the period.  Kevin Conroy tied things up at 11:49 and a power play goal by Dan Charlton at 16:00 gave the Pacers the lead for the first time.  Two minutes later the Spartans answered back scoring two goals :13 seconds apart to take a 6 - 5 lead at the end of the second.

 

Third period the Pacers exploded scoring five goals with Trevor Hiseler starting things off just :24 seconds into the period.  Blain Adams scored at 3:14 to give the Pacers the lead.  Charlton added his fifth goal of the night to give the Pacers the two goal lead at 3:47.  Kevin Conroy added the fourth goal of the period and Cory Burr added the fifth at 5:20.  From that point on it was all Spartans and they answered back scoring six unanswered goals with the first two being scored on the power play.

 

Ian Ferguson took the loss in net with a total of 23 saves. Craig Seneca earned the win for the Spartans.

 

Spartans went two for three on power play opportunities, Point Edward went three for eight.

 

Point Edward are now  5 - 12 - 0 for the season with three games remaining.  The first two games are home when they host Windsor on Wednesday June 26 starting at 8:00 pm and London on Friday June 28 beginning at 7:30 pm.  Their last game of the regular season is on Wednesday July 3 in Windsor.
