Bluewater Sharks Wrapped up Final Weekend of Tournaments

The Bluewater Sharks wrapped up their final weekend of tournaments featuring a total 29 teams that competed in 2004-2006 divisions.

In the 2004 Division action was seen by local entries Lambton Lightning, and the Host team the Bluewater Sharks

The Lightning team had a rough go of it as they lost all 4 round robin games and failed to advance to Sunday Semi's and Finals, as did the Bluewater Sharks entry that failed to play on Sunday as they had a record of 1 win and 3 losses and were sent home packing.


In the 2004 Division advancing to Sunday Semi Final play the London Regional West Express almost blew a 6 - 1 lead against South West Jets to take the win with a final score of 5 - 4.  In the second semi final it was the battle of Windsor as Silver Springs Selects handed the Border City Ice Hawks a 5 - 1 loss.

 

In the final London Regional West Express went up against Silver Spring Selects that went to Double Overtime before anything was settled and the outcome was a 3 to 2 victory by the Silver Spring Selects.

The Tournament MVP for the Silver Springs team was # 10 Eric Cos and the game MVP for the Silver Springs team was their goalie Owen Pogue.

The finalist Express honours went for Tournament to # 91 Lucas White and Game MVP Goalie Cole Sheffield.


In the 2005 Division action was seen by local entries Lambton Lightning, and the Host team the Bluewater Sharks

The Sharks didn't fair to well as they failed to muster any wins and went the round robin with a 0 and 4 record.

Advancing to Sunday's semi's were Xcelerate in 4th place, Southwest Jets 3rd, London Regional Express 2nd and 1st Soo Titans, who amassed a weekend record of 56 Goals in 6 games played and only allowing 8 in the same time frame.

 

The 4th Place Xcelerate team hung on for one period with a score reading 2 to 2 , but fell to the heavily favoured Soo team 11 to 2.

 

 

Liam McCarthy Aaron Shanks

 

 

Two local players defenseman Liam McCarthy and forward Aaron Shanks who played for the Sarnia Sting Minor Novice MD player competed with the Regional Express team that is comprised of players who compete in the Alliance West League. 

The
Regional won its first 3 tournament games before losing 5-4 to the Southwest Jets in the final preliminary round. Regional Express got revenge on the Jets Sunday morning with a convincing 6 - 2  win in the semi-finals. before losing 9 - 3 in the Championship game to the Sault Ste. Marie Titans.

MVP for the Tournament Soo Titans # 5 Connor Haynes and # 9 Jack Greenwell from the Express team, Game MVP honors went to Soo's # 18 Lincoln Moore and Express #19 Luke Richardson.
 


In the 2006 11 teams game in with 4 advancing to Sunday the local entries were The Bluewater Sharks and Vision Hockey

The Bluewater Sharks team advance to Sunday semi's with a 3 wins and 1 tie record, but the other local entry Vision was barely edged out of spot with a 1 Win 1 Loss and 2 Tie Record thus ending their tournament appearance for Sunday's semi's

The 4 Teams advancing were Southwest Jets 1st overall and the next 3 spots were taken up by Polar Hockey Selects form Michigan, the Local Bluewater Shark team and The International Stars also from the Detroit area.

Semi' final scores were International Stars taking it to the Local Sharks by a 7 to 1 count thumping, thus ending the 2006 Sharks team dream of advancing to the final. The other semi saw another blowout as the Southwest Jets handily eliminated the Polar Sect team by a 7 to 0 thrashing.

This set up the final which saw the South West Jets team hang on for a 3 to 1 Victory over the International Stars and winning the 2006 Division
Tournament.
 Mvp's Jets # 22 Clark Sandham and game Mvp for the Jets Goalie Logan Griffiths. Tournament Mvp's for the Stars were # 18 Mike Hellock and Game mvp # 19 Tristen Trevino

This ends another successful tournament season for the the Bluewater Sharks Organization
