Sarnia Spirit U12 Captured Title at Woodstock Tournament

tuesday june 18, 2013

The Sarnia Spirit U12 L6 girls soccer team captured the 21st Annual Woodstock Walter Kirchner Soccer Tournament over the June 15,16 weekend.

In pool play they defeated FEDS 2-0 with goals by Abby Allardyce and Chelsea Chiovitti. In the second game Sarnia was defeated by Moredale, a very good team from the GTA, 3-1. Keegan Maitland scored for Sarnia. In Quarter-Final play Sarnia soundly defeated Markdale 2-0 with both goals scored by Abby Allardyce.

Semi-Final action saw a re-match vs Moredale. They were the 1st seed and Sarnia was the 4th seed. Sarnia started out quick with Abby Allardyce delivering a hard, accurate shot into the top right corner of the net early in the game. Mikayla Solomone made it 2-0 by burying a rebound off a goalies save in the second half.

In the final, Sarnia faced a skilled Stratford team. Again Abby Allardyce was lethal early on scoring a nice, hard shot into the top corner 5 minutes into the game.

The rest of the game was an even back and forth game with several scoring chances for both teams. At the final whistle the final score was 1-0 Sarnia. The semi-final and final games were excellent, fast, evenly played games between all teams.

The Sarnia players represented Sarnia well with heart, determination, hustle and teamwork.

Congratulations Sarnia Spirit U12 L6!
