Sarnia FC U11 Premier Notch Another League Win

tuesday june 11, 2013

The Sarnia FC - U11 Premier team travelled to London to play in a rare Sunday night match. The night game took place at the beautiful Hellenic Community Centre against London AEK. The Sarnia boys faced this same team in the Middlesex United tournament Championship .

Sarnia would come out of the gate strong and pressed AEK early however it was London who got on the board first. Sarnia would soon regain composure and continue to force play in the AEK end. Sarnia mid-fielder Carter Barron would find himself alone in front of the London keeper and hammer the loose ball into the back of the net to tie the score. Barron would notch his second of the night as he blasted the ball from 20 yards out over the outstretched hands of the London keeper to give Sarnia their first lead of the game! Sarnia would demonstrate some strong passing skills as they moved the ball with ease in the left corner of the AEK net. Forwards - Nathan Hawkes and Mateo Troiani would play the perfect give and go while laying the ball into the top of the box for an incoming Kyle Flaminnio, who did not disappoint, firing the low drive into the AEK net. Sarnia would close out the half up 3 - 1.

AEK would battle back and score two early goals in the opening of the second half to tie the game once more. From the ensuing KO Sarnia would quickly strike back. The ball would be directed to Nathan Hawkes who dribbled passed 2 defenders into the London 18 yard box. The ball eventually found the foot of Sarnia striker Ryan Janssens who would pound the loose rebound into the centre of the net giving Sarnia the one goal lead. Soon after, Sarnia striker Michael Howe would be rewarded with a penalty kick for a hand ball violation. Howe would not miss the PK blasting the ball in and closing out the scoring with a Sarnia win!

Great effort from the entire team! Strong defensive play from Sarnia's back six denying most London chances. Finally, a fine effort from Sarnia keeper Andrew Harron who made the great saves when needed!

Final Score: Sarnia FC U11 Premier 5 - AEK London 3 .
