The Alvinston Indians travelled to Morpeth on Sunday evening, for a matchup with the Morpeth Magic. On this night, it was Alvinston rookies who would do most of the damage.
Indians starter Ty Sebastian threw seven innings of shutout ball, and tossed a no hitter against Morpeth, while walking 5 and striking out 8, to earn the shutout victory. The Indians were able to score one run in the second inning, when Aaron Stocking singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and then scored on an RBI single by Brad Cooper. In the fourth, Tyler Huff hit a deep sacrifice fly to centre, to score Ryan Chapman who reached base via a fielder's choice for the Indians second run. And then with two out, Devin Triest delivered the big hit, when he hit a single, that scored Stocking and Cooper, to cap off a three-run fourth inning for the Indians.
That was all the Indians would need on this night, as they cruised to a 4-0 win. Devin Triest and Stocking were both 2/3 for Alvinston, while Cooper was 1/2 with a walk.
The Indians return home on Thursday night, June 6, when they will host the visiting St. Thomas Storm, beginning at 8:00pm.
