The Sarnia FC U8 team competed up a year in the U9 division at their home town Water's Edge Classic Festival over the weekend.  In game one the U8's defeated the Lambeth Lancers 3 - 0.  Game two saw a close contest and lost to the Caboto Cobras with a final score of 3 - 2.

In the final round robin game against the Tillsonburg Titans the only goal was scored late in the game after the goalie couldn't get his hands around the ball fast enough on a Tillsonburg corner kick and the ball bounced off the goalie and found the back of the net that game the Titans the 1 - 0 win.

"Chances went both ways." Head Coach Jim Tsapraills said "It's the third game for the weekend and we played excellent, we matched their intensity. We played with them skill wise and it was a very good game it's unfortunate that they got a late goal.   I'm really proud of the team.

Despite the one win two losses the U8's placed second in their pool on goal differential that earned them a spot in the quarter final game.

In the quarter finals they went up against the #1 team in Pool 4 and were shut out by Belle River by a score of 4 - 0.

"Very proud of the boys." Tsapraills said after the quarter final game "This team (Belle River) was last year's champions and we were able to compete with them. We had some bad luck and bad bounces but for the most part we played with them and competed with them and were very proud of the kids because they played very well."
