2013 U10 Water's Edge Tournament Champions
In Point Edward under the bridge at the Water's Edge Classic Festival Tournament the Oakridge Thunder edged out the Brantford City Thunder 1 - 0 to take home the U10 title.
Heading into the final game Brantford City Thunder went 2-1-1 in round robin. The Thunder lost their first game 3-1 against the LaSalle Stompers. In their second game they took a 7 - 1 win over the Wallaceburg Stingers and defeated the North London Gold team with a final score of 4 - 2. In the semi final game they went up against Byron and both sides remained scoreless for a tie.
Oakridge is the defending champions as they took the 2012 U9 title last year. This year they went undefeated with a a record of 5 - 0 with a total of 17 goals and 1 against.
"Played five games, I couldn't be prouder of my boys." said Head Coach Larry Palarchro "They only allowed one goal in five games how much more can I ask for from a team."
On the road to the final game the Oakridge Thunder defeated Windsor 8 - 0, Sarnia White 2 - 0, Brantford Galaxy 3 - 0 and in the semi final they defeated Norwest 3 - 1.
"The final game was a very tough match." Palarchro said. "Both teams had a lot of training and conditioning throughout the winter months and it shows in this type of play. It was hard field conditions to play against but a lot of heart and passion is a part of this game and both teams had it, it could have gone either way."
MVP of the tournament was shared by Goaltender Ethan Kelly who earned 4 shutout and allowed just one goal. Conner Currado was the co-MVP who contributed in the wins scoring a total of seven goals in tournament.
Oakridge plans on returning again next year.
