– Sarnia Bay Marina will play host to the 3rd
Annual Antique & Classic Boat Show
later this month, July 26-27. There
will be a Captain’s welcome
reception on Friday, July 26th
followed by the boat show and other
activities from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm on
Saturday, July 27th.
“We are delighted that we have the
opportunity to showcase fine boats
and excited that this group decided
to use Sarnia to Showcase as a
destination this year.” Steve
Gelinas of Sarnia Bay Marina said
Featured in the Boat Show will be
over 25 beautifully finished and
restored boats as well as “Vintage
Trailers”. There will be
opportunities on Saturday to speak
to boat owners, listen to music and
enjoy a meal.
“We hope to get the local community
out here to experience and view
first hand some of the wonderful
vessels that will grace this
harbour.” Gelinas said

Some of the vessels expected at the
Boat Show are: 1939 Peterborough
Seafarer “Canada Goose”, 1928 Chris
Craft Runabout “Wave Trotter” and
1949 Essco Boat Cruiser “Pudgie”,
among many more including Black
Beauty owned by Rick and Diane
Laenen from St. Clair Michigan.
Black Beauty was fully restored in
2002 after thousands of hours were
worked on over a sixteen year
period. Laenen purchased the boat
in 1986 at a cost of $12,500 in 1986
and today the boat is valued at
$275,000.00.
Local chapter spokes person, Gerrit
Dykhouse, said, “ABCS is looking
forward to this event and the
positive impact it is going to have
on the local boating community. We
love sharing our knowledge and
displaying beautiful boats for the
public to see.”
Four prizes will be awarded at 4:30 pm on Saturday for
People’s Choice, Captains’ Choice,
President’s Choice and Most
Original. The Public is welcome to
come and vote for the People’s
Choice award.
