The Lambton Jr Sting Minor Peewee AAA were back in action on the weekend facing the Sun County Panthers at the RBC Centre.
In the first period the Panthers took a 2 - 0 lead. Lambton came out strong in the second and under a minute into the period Nolan DeGurse passed the puck across to Dylan Riddell who shot it in for the goal. On a power play Riddell set up the Jr Sting second goal with a pass to DeGurse who then passed it on to Spencer Vandenboom and scored a wraparound goal to tie the game at 2 each. However Sun County regained the lead with just four seconds left in the period to head into he third leading 3 - 2.
Action continued in the third and the Jr Sting played hard to get the equalizer. In the final push the Jr Sting pulled netminder Luc Thorne-Smith for the extra man but the Panthers found the empty opening to take the win with a final score of 4 - 2.
The first period started slowly but with some great defensive play from the Jr Sting although Sun County manage to shoot in a rebound taking the first goal.
The Jr Sting are back in action next Sunday January 20th when the Minor Peewee host the Chatham Cyclones.
