Sarnia's JR. Lady Sting Midget AA's have returned from the Guelph Thunderstorm Tournament where they successfully defended their Midget AA Championship. Sarnia started the weekend with a 3-0 victory over Cambridge. Scoring for Sarnia were Emily Williams, Sidney Weiss and Riley Wilhelm, while assists went to Jenna Rops and Emily Donkers. In net for the win was Karley Ferguson.
Game 2 was against the home team Guelph Thunder with Sarnia losing 1–0. Sarnia netminder Erica Sullivan's stellar play kept her team in the game. Looking to get back on track in Game 3 Sarnia skated their way to a 3-1 win over the Mississauga Chiefs with Sarnia scoring in each period. Finding the back of the net for Sarnia were Chantal Caraher, Amy Rawlings and Emily Williams. Assists went to Darian Adams and Beatrice Dufour with Ferguson in net. In the final round robin game Sarnia battled the London Devilettes to a 1-1 tie sending them to the championship game. Sarnia's lone goal came unassisted from Weiss while Sullivan was solid in net.
In the championship game the Lady Sting once again found themselves against the host team Guelph Thunder. Looking to avenge their earlier loss, Sarnia rallied for 2 unanswered goals in the third period from Darian Adams and McKayla Eves to win the Midget AA Championship for the second year in a row. The lone assist went to Williams with strong play from Julia Lupton, Kassie Roache, Shauna McPhail, Leslie Brandon and net minder Ferguson.
Sarnia has 4 league games remaining and will compete in the upcoming Sarnia Silver Stick in February.
