
Team Canada U22 Ladies won the gold medal at the 2013 Meco Cup that took place Jan. 3-6 in Memmingen and Füssen, Germany.
The annual Meco Cup is held in Germany and Switzerland that features five senior women national teams and Canada’s U22 development team. In the tournament’s 10 year history (formally known as the MLP Cup and Air Canada Cup), Canada’s U22 won gold every year except last year where they had to settle for the bronze.
Included on Team Canada's roster was Sarnia Native Carolyne Prevost. This is the third gold medal for Prevost on the U22 development team winning gold in 2010, 2011 & 2013. Prevost was invited to play in 2012 but was unable to attend.
In the 2013 tournament Team Canada went undefeated. In Exhibition Canada defeated Germany by a score of 8 - 1. Prevost scored on a penalty shot during the game. In round robin action Canada shut out Switzerland 4 - 0. In the third game Canada also earned a shutout with a final 2 - 0. Both Canadian goals were scored in the second period with Prevost scoring late in the period. The final gold medal game was against Russia and the Canadian team dominated and won with a final score of 8 - 3.
